Timothy Lafontaine’s first foray into teaching voice occurred as an undergraduate when the theater department of the college enlisted his help in vocally preparing the actors for a musical production. As the actors showed credible improvement in the vocal ability, Mr. Lafontaine was asked to assist on more productions.  This experience help convince him that he had the ability to communicate the essential information to help singers improve their vocal techniques.  Although he has spent most of his career as a performer, Mr. Lafontaine has always taught singers who asked for assistance with their vocal needs.  In addition, his thirty year career has given him invaluable insight and experience to the unique needs of a singer as he/she pursues a career in the arts.

Mr. Lafontaine received a BA in a double major of Music and Theater from C.W. Post College in Brookville, NY.  He has studied voice with Laurel Miller, Martin Lies, Shirley Emmons, and Arthur Levy.  He has obtained invaluable insight from great coaches whose partial list includes David Holkeboer, Steven Eldridge, Stanley Sonntag, Steven Blier and Joan Kroeger.  He has also been a voracious reader of literature about vocal technique from the masters of Bel Canto to modern proponents.
